Metered New York and a Summer Update from GPRO!

We’ve had an exciting summer here at GPRO and Urban Green. We’ve trained nearly 7,000 professionals in green building techniques, and are gearing up to begin new courses in the fall aimed to help navigate the new NYC energy code and more.

NEW BENCHMARKING TOOL: METERED NEW YORK

Launched in mid-June, Metered New York, Urban Green’s new benchmarking website, features tools for visualizing the city’s public data on energy, water and emissions data for the nearly 15,000 properties that make up half of NYC’s square footage.

Visit metered.nyc to see property report cards with performance data by year, size, location, sector, as well as benchmarking resources, case studies, and more.

2015 EBIE WINNERS

This year’s EBie Awards—the Oscars of existing buildings—welcomed our largest pool of applicants yet and celebrated impressive projects from around the country. Read more about a new award and a lively Broadway performance that kept guests on the edge of their seats on our blog, and see behind-the-scenes interviews with EBie winners and supporters on Vimeo.

The coveted All-Rounder Award went to Stephen Monez of Mount Sinai Health Systems in Brooklyn for the hospital’s overhaul of its HVAC systems, while this year’s Smooth Operator was Eric Gregory for Emory University’s restoration of their business school. Learn more about these projects and see a full list of 2015 EBie Award winners across seven categories on the EBies website.

Fundamentals of Building Green is the required prerequisite for ALL GPRO courses.

The GPRO training program is designed for experienced building professionals who seek to integrate green practices into the core knowledge of their trade.

The program materials and exam cover the “green gap” between standard trade skills and the new awareness and skills required to successfully implement green building. Individuals with experience in construction and building operations will have an advantage when taking Fundamentals of Building Green and in passing the certificate exam, but anyone with an interest in green building is encouraged to participate.
